Abstract

300,709. Makins, W. B., and Brown & Makins, Ltd. Aug. 22, 1927. Disc apparatus.- Apparatus for cleaning ceilings, walls, &c. in buildings comprises a rotary rubbing device consisting of a brush, brick, sandpaper, or other abrading agent 12 detachably mounted on a spindle 5, machine or hand driven, and surrounded by a chamber 4 connected to a liquid supply pipe 6. Liquid is supplied by channels 13, 14 to the brush &c., which works in a shield 15 of aluminium &c. and is connected to suction apparatus 16a. If the rubbing element 12 consists of sandpaper over a backing, the sandpaper may have an automatic or manual feed so as to change the working surface. The shield 15 may be double walled, the intervening space being under suction which may be intermittent. The edge of the shield may have a rubber insertion or a series of fingers so as to be liquid tight. Where a brush is used, the stock may be stepped or the bristles arranged to form a central concavity.
