Abstract

300,531. Shaw, R., and Wailes Dove Bitumastic, Ltd. Aug. 11, 1927. Compound sheet materials.-Roofing, sheeting and like material comprises bituminous, resinous or other waterproof material applied to canvas, felt or other fabric so that the fabric is coated or impregnated therewith, with a rigid or stiff reinforcement comprising interwoven wires or like members, expanded metal or other perforated sheet material of sufficient rigidity to render the sheets self-supporting, enclosed within the waterproof fabric by being interposed between two layers thereof, the said layers and the reinforcement being subjected to heat and pressure to unite them. The sheets may be cut to smaller dimensions, and may be plane, or may be passed through rollers to produce sheets of corrugated, shingle-shaped or other form. According to the Provisional Specification, the waterprooof material may be vulcanized or treated with sulphur chloride, and mineral or other matter may be incorporated therein. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 3742/87, [Class 142, Weaving &c.], 16399/95, and 1360/12.
