Doffing-arrangements. -In the doffing-mechanism described in the parent Specification, wherein interchangeable bobbin rails are moved between the doffing position, the position below the flyers, and a rearward position by means of a rocking frame comprising bars c pivoted to arms d, e which are oscillated by suitable mechanism, the frame is provided with pivoted supporting plates p arranged to co-operate with the frame, to receive the bobbin rails as the frame is moved to the rearward position and to retain them raised approximately at the level they attain in the intermediate position of the frame, so as to obviate the difficulty of lifting and sliding the bobbin rails when the frame is moved from the rearward to the intermediate position. The plates p are pivoted to fixed brackets at a point q immediately below the pivots of the weighted hooks f, which, as in the arrangement described in the parent Specification, retain the bobbin rails in their rearmost position. At the commencement of the set the parts occupy the position shown in Fig. 3, the plates p being held in the depressed position by the engagement of the pivots v of the bars c with ledges u on the plates; the full bobbins a<1> are replaced by empty bobbins and the frame retracted, so that the plates p, being released from the constraint of the pivots v, rise under the action of counterweights and are engaged by runners w on the bars d, as shown in Fig. 4. In this position the plates support the lifter rail and allow the frame to be moved forward without effort into its intermediate position shown in Fig. 5 in readiness for the next doff. Pins t on the plates p engage the tails of the hooks f to determine their operative and inoperative positions. The invention may be applied to the form of frame which is pivoted above the bar c.
