Abstract

299,929. Karrier Motors, Ltd., Clayton, R. F., and Averns, R. Dean-. Aug. 11, 1927. Laminated springs.- The spring is mounted in a U-shaped housing b having depending lips b<5> which engage a bracket f on a vehicle axle or other supporting part, the arrangement being such that any tendency of the spring leaves towards longitudinal displacement is not transmitted through the holding-down bolts. The spring leaves are formed with lateral projection a<1> which engage the vertical sides of the housing and prevent longitudinal movement of the spring. The spring cover d is held down by central bolts c, which do not engage the axle bracket, and by the holding-down bolts e. The depending lips b<5> may be undercut as shown. In a modification, the spring leaves may be formed with side recesses instead of lateral projections, a locking-plate being inserted between a side wall of the housing and the recesses in the leaves.
