Abstract
299,699. Kenney, M. A., (Assignee of Gibbons, R.). Oct. 29, 1927, [Convention date]. Luminous semaphore signals. - Illuminated apparatus for automatically indicating the direction of the wind on an aerodrome comprises sets of lights A - - D, Fig. 1, which are selectively operated by a switch controlled by a wind vane. Central set of continuously-lighted lamps E is provided. One set of terminals of all the lamps is connected in series by wires 3, 4, 2, 5 to one battery lead 1. The other terminals of lamps E are continuously connected to battery lead 7, while those of each set A - - D are connected to terminals 10a - - 10d of a switch-arm 15 which is always in contact with a ring 13 connected to lead 7. The arm 15 its mounted on a, spindle 17, Fig. 2, carrying a windvane 18. The switch is enclosed in a casing 16 filled with oil acting in conjunction with damping vanes 19, or the like on the spindle 17. The lamps are preferably of the neon type housed in the usual manner.
