Abstract

299,634. Savonius, S. J. Dec. 16, 1927. Current motors; regulating. - In a current motor as described in Specification 244,414 the vanes 11, 12 are formed with tangential extensions 16, 17 which for a parallel walled passage from the concave surface of one vane to that of the other. The curved surface of the vanes may be cylindrical, helical, or conical and extends over 145‹ the centre being at half the distance of the outer edge of the vane from the rotor axis. The vanes are formed with pivoted flaps 20, 21 which under the action of centrifugal force due to eccentric mounting or to weights 60, 61 on the flaps 56, 57, Fig. 5, open against the action of springs whereby the rotor is regulated, braked, or with the flaps 20, 21 opening outwardly as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2 reversed. The flaps in the vanes may be linked to one another and be displaced against the action of a spiral spring 40.
