Abstract

299,548. Adams, L. E. Aug. 15, 1927. Safety-valves.-A safety valve device comprising a series of main valves loaded to open successively has the main valves except the first arranged to actuate auxiliary valves to increase the lift of the preceding valve. The first three main valves m co-operate with seats n and are loaded by springs o bearing against cross heads p supported by pillars from the casing. The valves discharge into whirl chambers q having outlets l controlled by closures k on the valve spindles and outlets e<1> controlled by auxiliary valves g coupled to the main valves so as to move towards their closed positions as the respective main valves open. The loading springs may be enclosed in tubes. The last valve, s of the series is loaded by a weighted lever t. The lever t is arranged to close an electric switch to energize an electromagnet v arranged to lift the weight u as the valve approaches its full open position.
