Teeth, artificial.-A suction denture is fitted with a skin, rubber, leather or like membrane c, formed with a very fine central perforation e, and is perforated at d below the membrane. The membrane is held in place by a metal or other ring b embedded in the vulcanite a of the denture and formed with an inwardly extending flange on its upper surface which projects slightly above the base of a cavity f in the denture. On suction being applied the membrane c is deformed so that the perforation e closes and a vacuum is maintained in the cavity f. During vulcanization the membrane may be protected by means of a metal plug applied to the perforations d, e. One or more such membranes and holders may be applied to the lingual wall of a lower denture.
