Insulators. - In an insulator of the type described in the parent Specification, in which the hanger is positioned in the insulator cavity by flexible holders inserted between the hanger and the insulator wall, the flexible holders are now bent, to prevent swinging of the hanger, so that portions of the holders form abutments for the hanger shanks. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, the head 6 of the hanger 7 enters an enlargement 2 in the insulator cavity and rests on the bent ends 18 of holders 17. Bent portions 19 of the holders contact with the hanger shank 9 and the cylindrical walls 3 of the cavity. In modified constructions, the lower ends of the holders are bent outwardly towards the cylindrical wall 3 against which they abut, the centre part of the holder lying against the hanger shank; or, the upper ends of the holders may be bent to conform to the shape of the shoulder of the cavity 2, the lower ends being bent outwards to U-shape and abutting against the cylindrical wall 3; or, the lower ends of the holders may be curled outwardly to form eyes through which a wine ring may be passed. Fig. 6 shows a tool for inserting the holders. The outer ends 19 of the holders 17 are engaged by a clamp-like supporting strip 20 formed at its inner end with resilient tongues 34 between which lie the hanger ends 19.
