Winding-machines; creel arrangements; threadguides; tension arrangements.-In a machine for winding threads, twine, or cords an expanding sleeve member 3, Fig. 1, on which the cheese is wound is formed with oppositely extending longitudinal slots a - - a<3>, b - - b<3>, Figs. 3 and 5, so that when positioned on the conical winding spindle 2 it will expand from both ends towards its centre. The sleeve is forced on and from the spindle 2 by a hand-lever 9 connected by links 5, 5a to devices 4, 4a, Fig. 2, engaging a groove in the head 3a of the sleeve 3, the, device being locked in its winding-position by a catch 11<b>. The winding-spindle unit may be used in combination with a creel arrangement wherein the thread g is led from a bobbin 12, Fig. 7, over guides 13 - - 13<c> to the traversing guide 14, the intermediate guides 13<a>, 13b being braked by springs 16, 16<a> to tension the yarn. An empty bobbin 12 is discharged on to a guideway 19 by a pedal 18 and takes up the position 12c. Simultaneously the catch 20 retaining a full bobbin in the position 12b is released, permitting the bobbin to roll down to the forked supports 18d. Overrunning of the bobbin 12 is prevented by the spring-controlled drag-member 23.
