298,766. Fraser, G., Fraser, N., and Fraser, J. Oct,. 7, 1927. Yarns. - A material suitable for rope soles for shoes, for packing hydraulic glands, &c., or for rugs or mat making is formed by wrapping yarns 3 helically around a number of yarn cores 1, 2 and securing them thereto either by stitching 5 or adhesive. The covering yarns 3 are carried upon cops 9 mounted within a rotating head 6 and the cores 1, 2 are led axially of the head 6 through a nozzle 12 divided by a partition 13 which extends beyond the end of the nozzle, separates the cores and holds them in parallel disposition while they are wrapped. Alternative forms of nozzles for dealing with more than two cores may be provided. Grooved rollers 15, 16 are provided for compressing the covered cores and shaping the product into flat form.
