Abstract

298,395. Goddard, E. A. Nov. 21, 1927. Fastenings for sliding doors.-For a sliding door of the kind in which a number of leaves 2 are arranged to slide on a track 1 which extends across the door opening and along a side wall or into a reveal or recess in the building, a locking abutment 5 is provided that is mounted in line with the doors across the track and adjacent the bend in the track, so that when the abutment is drawn back it will clear the path of movement .of the door leaves as they open owing to the bend in the track. The abutment as shown comprises a lever 5 mounted on a bracket 4 on the wall and positioned near the right-angles bend in the track 1. When the door leaves are in the closed position they abut at one end against a fixed stop 6, the door being secured by turning the lever down so that it abuts against the leaf at the other side of the door. The stop is accessible to a person inside the building. A key-operated lock 7 may be provided, the lock bolt being adapted to engage in the end of the lever 5 or in the stop 6 or in a keeper or staple fixed to the wall of the building. A service door is provided and may be constituted by one of the leaves 2.
