Electromagnetic current meters; casings for instruments.-An ammeter of the iron vane type has the winding movable axially of the vane in order to adjust the instrument. The moving system consists of an iron vane 28 riveted to a light aluminium damper 29 and carried by a shaft 27. The moving system is mounted in a sector-shaped chamber 23, shown in section in Fig. 4, to one radial wall of which is attached the fixed iron vane 33. The chamber 23 is integral with a member 15 to which is attached, by screws 20, a rear member 16 carrying two parallel terminal posts 42, each provided with terminal nuts 50. Slidably mounted on the posts 42 is a triangular plate 43 of insulating material having a sector-shaped opening which clears the chamber 23. Integral with the plate 43 is a flange 44 carrying the sector-shaped winding 45, sleeves 46. These are slidably mounted on the posts 42, to which they are clamped in the desired position by screws 48 having spring lock wasners 49. The members 15, 16, which may be moulded of insulating material, provide a substantially air-tight chamber enclosing the winding 45 and preventing deposition of moisture on the inner surface of the glass 10.
