Pile tables; sheet separators. - In apparatus for making and covering boxes wrappers f, Fig. 20, are removed one at a time from a magazine 170 by a glueing segment 172 and delivered to a co-operating cylinder 173 from which it is stripped by fingers on a bridge-piece 173<b>. A liddea box is pushed on to the wrapper from the conveyer 35 by a plunger 175 and pressed on to the wrapper by rollers 176, the box and wrapper being then taken by a conveyer 38 to a table where they are engaged by upper and lower rams and moved past brush devices on to a slideway, the brush devices folding and pressing the laterally projecting parts of the wrapper against the sides of the box and lid. The slideway carries the box and wrapper to the table 131 of a folding apparatus, Fig. 23, where bars 133 carried by a pair of pivoted and transversely movable bars 132 fold the side edges of the wrapper over the lid while resiliently-mounted. rollers 119 are moved to fold the front and rear edges thereover. The wrapped box is carried from the folding apparatus by the slideway 125, Fig. 25, and is supplied with a label by a rotating segment 155, the label being smoothed on the box as the latter passes between a pair of conveyer bands. The labels are piled in a box 140 mounted in a frame 141 carried by an oscillating shaft 142 and are taken from the box by a glueing segment 154 by which they are delivered to the segment 155. The box carries a roller 151 running on a fixed cam track 152 so shaped that the rear end of the label box is alwavs at the same level as or tangentially to the glueing segment while the box has a velocity equal to or a little less than the circumferential velocity of the segment.
