Bodies of road vehicles comprise rectangular wooden frame members to which is secured at each side a panel stamping having door and window openings, the stamping being formed with inwardly presenting channels secured to the wooden frame so that the depth of the wall is equal to the combined depth of a channel and its wooden frame member. The wooden posts are substantially straight and the sills and headers are curved slightly to furnish in part the longitudinal curvature of the body, the finished contour of the body being obtained by the panel stamping. Figs. 2 and 3 show the front and intermediate door post wooden frame members 11, 12 to which is secured the panel stamping which at these parts comprises channels, the front channel 21 having rabbeted portions 23, 24 for the door overlap and being secured to the frame member 11 by flanges 25, 22 which the door hinges are secured to the parts 28, 29 of the intermediate post channel 27. The stamping of the rear post is channel formed at the upper part only and is provided with a flange at the lower part which projects forwardly and downwardly and is secured to the wheel housing bracket. Fig. 6 shows the channel formation 42 of the stamping where it is secured to the wooden sill member 10 while a header stamping comprises rabbets 39, Fig. 5, for the door overlap and is secured to the wooden header 14.
