Cutting slices in succession. - The yieldable guide of the feed table of a slicing-machine has a hand-member connected directly to it so that it can be quickly displaced for removal of the feed table. As shown in Fig. 2, the feed table 5 is guided at one side by a rigid member 6 and at the other side by a yielding member 7 loosely carried on pins 12 carrying coil springs 13 which press the member 7 inwardly towards the table. A handle 15 is attached to the member 7 and, when pressed in the direction of the arrow 16, tilts the member 7 sufficiently to permit removal of the table 5. The table at the rigid side is held between the inturned part 6<1> of the member 6 and the adjacent portion of the reciprocating carriage, or the stationary undertable 1, according to the type of the machine. At the other side, the table 5 is held between the inturned part 7<1> of the member 7, the edge of the usual corrugated plate 8 and a ridge 14 on the carriage 1. The invention may be applied to a feed table guided at one side only by so-called " narrow-guide mechanism." The feed nut is disengaged by a device 17 of known construction operated by a hand-member 18.
