Abstract

295,360. Heinemann, M. Aug. 10, 1927, [Convention date]. Machines for corner - staying. - In a machine for making cornered containers and lids from cardboard, leather, &c., and in which all the corners are made in one operation, four anvils 23 upon which the corners are formed are integrally connected to four bodies 5 mounted on carriages 4 carried by uprights 2, 2<1>, adjustability for various sizes being secured by lateral adjustment of the standards 2, 2<1> by a shaft 3 geared to them and by adjustment of the position of the carriages 4 on the standards by spindles 25 operated from a spindle 27, shafts 8, 27 being operated by hand wheels. Rams 21 on the bodies 5 are operated from a driven shaft 34 by gears 32, 9, 7, 6, and by cranks and connecting rods carried by the bodies 5. Feeding and cutting mechanism for the stitching or glueing strips are arranged in the rams in known manner and operated by cams 22. The cut cardboard is positioned on the anvils 23 by a carriage 28 carrying spring-controlled feeders adjustably mounted on guide rods and arranged to grip each corner of the box from both sides.
