Tents. - The ribs a of an umbrella, tent are jointed to a ring, b on a tubular member d and the struts g are jointed to a ring h on a second tubular member i, as shown in Fig. 4, and the tent is adapted to be opened by the slidable engagement of the two tubular members d, i, no umbrella stick being employed. In the open position of the tent, the struts are forced beyond the extreme spreading position. When the tube i is engaged with the tube d by means of the knob k, the struts g turn from a radial to a tangential position relatively to the ring h. The tent may be supported directly on the ends of the ribs, or such ribs may rest on uprights, such as the ends of a bed, or the tube d may be suspended from the celling. Weights m, Fig. 5, may be disposed on the lower hanging portion of the cover c, and if desired this hanging portion n may be separate and detachably secured to the main cover at o. At the ends of the ribs, the cover, which may be of tulle material, is strengthened.
