Abstract

294,564. Pressed Steel Car Co., (Assignees of Koch, F.). July 26, 1927, [Convention date]. Communication platforms.-In an articulated car in which the adjacent ends of two adjacent bodies are supported on a common truck, a vestibule member 1 is mounted in a pivot bearing 3, 4, and connects the adjacent body ends, anchoring means 8, Fig. 3, being provided for maintaining the vestibule in its bearing during the operation of the car. The pivot socket 4 may be supported on the truck but as shown is in the form of a casting bolted to the end of one of the adjacent vehicles. The adjacent ends of the opposing vehicles are supported in a bearing 6 carried by a truck bolster 7. The vestibule is cylindrical in form and is provided with a passageway 2; it is pivoted in the socket 4 by the spigot 3 and is centralized by means of rods 8 connected to brackets 10 on the bolster and lugs 9 on the vestibule. The connection between each lug 9 and rod 8 is by means of a spring 14 which allows the rods to cant when the vehicle is on a curved track so as to maintain the spigot 3 in the socket 4.
