Abstract

293,473. Stanbridge, H. March 1, 1927. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Gun cartriges.-Relates to shot-gun cartridges in which, in order to prevent irregular dispersal of the pellets when the cartridge, is fired, the usual wad over the shot is dispensed with. According to the invention, the mouth of the cartridge case D is cut into spear-shaped serrations, as shown in Fig. 6, or slits d<3> are made, Fig. 7, and after filling with powder A, wads B over the powder, and shot C, the mouth d<1> of the case is closed over the shot by means of a die. A cap E. of paper, or a metal ferrule or band, is then secured over or around the mouth. Alternatively, the serrated or slit end of the cartridge may be turned down flat over the shot, and a sealing disc gummed or otherwise fastened thereto.
