Proofing against gas; proofing processes and materials; multiple superposed coatings; compound fabrics.-Gas-proof fabrics consist of a sheet of fabric coated with animal glue rendered supple by the addition of glycerine and insoluble by bichromate, formaldehyde or other agents, the fabric so formed being coated on both sides with a thin layer of rubber or the like which is then vulcanized. A layer of the plastic glue composition may be spread over one face of each of two layers of fabric which may then be joined so that the plastic composition is between them and a layer of rubber is then formed on the outer faces of the joined layers.
