Collapsable metal and partitioned casks; rings.-Relates to barrels of the sectional type which can be disassembled and nested for purposes of transport. Fig. 1 shows a barrel in three sections provided with circumferential flanges 4 having no bolt holes or other apertures. Rolling rings 5 diametrically divided at 6 embrace channel sectioned clamping rings 7 which are also formed in two parts. Studs 9 pass through one flange of the rolling ring and bear on the web of the clamping ring, and the flanges 4 of the container sections, are disposed between the opposite flange of the rolling ring and the clamping ring. Consequently on tightening the studs 9 the sections are effectively clamped together. Tapered nuts 11 are provided on the inner ends of the studs 9 to engage within the clamping ring and retain it in the retracted position when the complete rings are removed. The nuts are prevented from rotating by flats thereon. Packing may be provided between the flanges 4. The sections may be clamped together in the nested position as shown in the chain lines. The rings may have dove-tail like inter-engaging ends to lock them in position. Modifications are described in which the studs engage a threaded member on the clamping ring, and in which the clamping ring is dispensed with and one of the adjacent flanges 4 is suitably stiffened to co-operate with the studs 9. The flanges 4 may be provided with registering annular projections and recesses. The sections may be varied in size so that barrels of different capacities may be assembled and circular division plates may be inserted between the flanges 4.
