Abstract

292,382. Ball, M., and Ball, J., (Representatives of Ball, W. H.). Aug, 22, 1927. Axle stops of the turn-over type have two weighted levers pointing in opposite directions, the light arm of each lever being depressed by axles 6 of vehicles travelling in either direction. The levers are mounted on axles 14, 17 on a common base 4 and have weighted ends 12, 15 occupying the width of the recess 9 and normally resting on the steps 10, 11. The ends 12, 15 are at least double the width of the light arms 13, 16 which normally have their summits 20 side by side. When overthrown by an axle at excessive speed, the arms 13, 16 engage the risers 18, 19 of the steps 10, 11 in or beyond the vertical position.
