Abstract

Gloves.-In a glove for handling heated articles of the type in which the palm and inner parts of the wrist and fingers are faced with asbestos, woven sheeting, or other heat-insulatitig material which may be diatomaceous earth, borax, Kieselguhr, silica, or the like. As shown, the glove 1, Figs. 1 and 2, is faced over the palm and the inner part of the wrist and finger and thumb portions with woven asbestos or other sheeting 2 and, if desired, the back portions of thumb and finger portions 3 may also be provided with a protective facing of woven asbestos or the like. In the construction shown in Fig. 5, a pocket 4 is formed in the glove and is filled with a pad of felt 5 impregnated with diatomaceous earth, and the inner facing 4a of the pocket is of leather. A strap 8 passes round the back of the wrist to maintain the glove on the wrist when the fingers and thumb are removed from their coverings which only extend from the finger tips a short distance, the remainder of the back of the hand being uncovered.
