Abstract

Plant; valve-gear; valves, distributing; discharge and suction passages.-A pumping device for feeding spinning solutions such as viscose in the manufacture of artificial filaments comprises a gear-wheel pump which feeds the solution to a second gear-wheel pump through a control cock 26 which is formed with a control port 29 facing the inlet 31 to the second pump and with a bye-pass port 30 at 90‹ to return surplus solution to the first gear pump through a passage 32. An indicating pointer is provided on the control cock. The two pumps are housed in a casing built up of five members 11 - - 15 bolted together, the middle one of which contains the discharge opening for the solution and the control cock 26 and its associated passages. The two sets of gear wheels are driven from a single shaft 21 which is formed with projections 22 engaging recesses 23 in the gear wheels 17, 19; the gear wheels 18, 20 are mounted on bearing members 24 secured to the casing by screws 24<1>. The inlet passage to the first set of gear wheels 17, 18 is divided into two passages 36, 37, Fig. 9, so that the solution returned through the bye-pass passage 32 enters the teeth spaces before these reach the passages 36, 37.
