Abstract

290,703. Cockburns, Ltd., and Mac- Nicoll, D. Oct. 10, 1927. Separators.-In a separator or strainer of the kind in which the steam or other fluid passes between the turns of helically coiled wire 7 or the meshes of wire gauze or netting, the wire is supported on a skeleton frame 2 which is held in position in the fluid passage by a flange 10 engaging in recesses in the wall of the passage and in a cover 5. The wire is wound in a helical groove on the outer surface of a conical skeleton frame which is surrounded by an outer skeleton frame 1, the frames being secured together at their smaller ends by a bolt 9. Screwed pins 12 engaging in recesses in the outer frame prevent relative movement of the frames. In a modification, wire netting is wrapped around a single conical, cylindrical or other shaped skeleton frame.
