Abstract

290,657. Oka, K. April 2, 1928. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 20, 1928]. Sodium glutamate solution is purified from iron by boiling with sodium sulphide. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) contains an example in which the hydrochloride of glutamic acid is neutralized with sodium carbonate and then heated with the addition of sodium sulphide. It is stated that when the glutamic acid is contaminated with other amino-acids such as leucine, tyrosine &c. the crude hydrochlorides are dissolved in water an'd neutralized with calcium hydroxide, the calcium salts of the other amino-acids being filtered off. Sodium carbonate is added to the filtrate to produce sodium glutamate, from which the iron is removed as above described. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
