Abstract

Cutting slices in succession.-A slicing machine having a rotary knife and a rotary table for supporting the substance to be sliced is provided with means for supporting the table at or near its periphery and has the driving mechanism adapted to act on the table at or near its periphery. The knife 4 is rotated by a hand crank acting through bevel wheels 7, 8, 10 countershaft 11 and chain gear 12. The table is rotated by a pinion 14 mounted on a shaft 9 rotated by the bevel wheel 8 engaging a silent chain 15 supported in a channel member 16 on a peripheral flange 13 on the table. The table has a ball bearing mounting on a central pivot 18 adjusted for height by a screw 19 and secured to the frame by screws 20. The peripheral flange 13 rests on a rail 17 which may extend through part or all of the circumference and may be faced with anti-friction metal or fitted with rollers. Four feed plates 23 are mounted in guides 24 each plate being provided with a meat clamp and with a segmental nut 25 engaging a feed screw 26. The feed screw is rotated by ratchet gear 27 controlled by a handle 31 and actuated by a roller 28 engaging inclined surfaces 29.
