Abstract
290,016. Robinson, G., and Robinson, J. April 2,1927. Rackets.-Relates to tennis and like rackets of the type in which the mesh is formed of a number of short lengths of string, and consists in that each length preferably forms two strings of the racket and the ends of each length are retained in position without the use of wedges or other retaining devices by passing them through holes in the frame and alternately under a portion of the string itself. Four holes a<1> - - a<4>, Figs. 4 and 5, connected by grooves c are provided in the frame for securing the ends of each length of string. One end is secured by passing the string from the inside of the frame through the hole a<1>, back through the hole a<2>, out again through the hole a<4>, and finally passing it be. neath that part of the string lying between the holes a<1>, a<2>. The other end is secured in a similar manner using the holes a<4>, a<3> and a<2>. The length of string terminating at the wedge is secured by the provision of four holes d<1> - - d<4>, Figs. 1 and 10. One end is secured by passing it through the holes d<1>, d<2> and d<3> in the order named and passing it under the part of the string lying between the holes d<1>, d<2>. When each string is formed of a separate length, three holes are provided in each side of the frame for securing purposes.
