Windows and the like, cleaning.-A horizontally-disposed wiping element 4 is attached to links 7, 2, either or both of these links being secured to the windscreen frame by one or two detachable brackets 8 of U-section. The link 2 may be a wiping element actuated by any usual means. The bracket 8, to which the arm 7 is pivotally connected, is detachably secured to the windscreen frame by means of a pivoted arm 10 formed with cam surfaces co-operating with a spring 12. Other means for securing the bracket, such as spring clips or pressure screws, may be employed. The bracket may extend across the frame and be used to support the actuating- device. A slidably-mounted clip 22, adapted to be locked in position, may be provided on the bracket 8 for engagement with the top of the arm 7 whereby the element 4, when not in use, may be held in its operative position close to the top of the windscreen frame. The squeegee 5 of the wiping element 4 may be capable of extension by being secured to members 6, 40, Fig. 6, which are slidable with respect to each other, being retained in adjusted position by means of a screw 41 and screw sockets 42. The Provisional Specification describes a construction in which a horizontally-disposed wiping element is attached to arms pivoted to brackets on the lower edge of the windscreen, one of these arms being connected to an existing wiper-element to be actuated thereby.
