Abstract

288,798. Andrew, T. March 17, 1937. Noxious gases from manufacturing operations, collecting and conveying away; forced ventilation.-Ventilating and dust-removing &c. systems in connection with cotton mills comprise the arrangement as a continuous pipe circuit without blank ends of the exhaust pipes a, from which branches b extend downwards to the various carding machines c. Each pipe is connected at both ends to the inlet d of a fan &c. e. The branches b, Fig. 3, are each provided with a valve f, which normally may be partially open to permit general ventilation of the mill room but is closed when the hood g is employed for extracting dust. The connection between the hood g and branch b may be a flexible pipe h which may be bent into an outofservice position. The branches b may be arranged to swivel about the main pipe a.
