Abstract

288,638. Schoene, K. April 14, 1927, [Convention date]. Suction valveless piston pumps.-The piston of a liquid pump having suction ports in its wall is formed with a head bulged or channelled, and the suction ports 5 are directed so that the fluid stream enters approximately parallel with the surface of the piston head at the rim; the change of direction imparted by the piston to the fluid stream causes the stream to impart energy to the piston. Fig. 1 shows the ports fitted with guides 6, and the piston head having a bulged shape; an outlet valve 4 is provided in the head. Fig. 2 shows a channelled ring 7 disposed above the piston head and connected to it by webs 8 which define channels narrowing towards the centre.
