Protectors and shields.-A protector for wounds comprises a ring a of rubber having numerous pores produced by blowing in nitrogen at a pressure of about 600 atmospheres. A lid d composed of one or more pieces of fabric or of rubber is secured by a piece of fabric g glued to the lid and the ring. The engaging surfaces e, f of the ring and lid are coated with rubber solution. The ring a has a bevelled lower face to which is secured a ring c of plaster, part of which projects within the ring whereby the protector is secured to the skin by an agglutinant or a rubber solution. In a modification, the hinged lid d is replaced by a bag the inner edge of which may be drawn up by a cord. The ring may be oval or rectilinear instead of circular. The ring c may be cut away in places.
