Abstract

Hand guards, shields, and the like. - In a pocket or like knife having a folding blade 11 and a spring 14 for holding the blade in closed or open position, wherein the spring projects at one end to form a tool 15 such as a screwdriver or wrench, a folding cover is provided for covering the tool when the latter is not in use. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the cover comprises a series of telescopic U-shaped sections 16 - - 20, the largest section 16 being secured to the spring 14 by rivets 21 while the other sections are pivoted on a pin 22 so as to be capable of nesting inside the section 16. The smallest section 20 carries a snap 23 adapted to engage a notch 24 in the spring to hold the cover closed. The sections are provided with outwardly- and inwardlyextending interengaging edges 25, 26. As shown in Fig. 6, a semi-circular cover 37 hinged at 38. and carrying a snap 40 is provided. In another form, the cover comprises a pair of half shells adapted to snap together at their meeting edges and hinged at their back edges.
