Stays.-A stay-bar a of the kind which is slidable over a headed pin v<1> and arranged so that the parts cannot be disengaged until the cabin door or like hinged member is in the closed position, is provided with an attachment for the bar so that it can only be detached from the door or the door frame on which it is mounted by a rotary movement, this movement being prevented while it is in engagement with the pin. The headed pin may be mounted on its support in a similar manner. The. tubular bar a is attached to a plate g having a screwed socket, and a plate k secured by screws m to the door frame carries a screw j. The bar is attached to the frame by rotating it so that the plate g screws over the pin j, screws r then tightening the plate g on the under plate k to cover its screws m and render them inaccessible to a thief on the outside of the door. The pin v<1>, carried by a bracket w on the door p, may be engaged with, and disengaged from, the stay-bar through the enlarged slot s<1>. Under the head of the pin is a neck v<2> that slides along the slot s of the tubular bar as the door is opened, this opening movement being limited by an end enlargement s<2> of the slot, which is uncovered when the piston t is pressed back. The spring-pressed piston acts against the pin in the slot s<2> and prevents rattling of the open door. The bar is mounted for universal movement on pins c, d<2>, a projection q serving to hold the bar horizontal when disengaged from the headed pin.
