Abstract

285,100. Creed & Co., Ltd., and Creed, F. G. Sept. 4, 1926. Type-printing telegraphs. - In a start-stoptype-printing receiver the start-stop control and the positioning of the selecting devices are effected by a mechanical relay which derives its pcwer from the driving motor and is under the control of the usual electromagnetic line relay or of a locally-energized relay responsive to the line signals. The invention is particularly applicable to the type-printing receiver described in Specification 228,842. A motor-driven worm 4, Fig. 2, drives, through worm wheels 5, 6 respectively, the shaft 7 carrying the start-stop sleeve 28 and the printing wheel shaft 8. The latter drives through gears 9, 10 a spindle 11, Fig. 5, carrying one member 3 of a rotary friction clutch against which the other member 1 is pressed by springs 2. The member 1 carries an escapement tooth 1<a> for co-operation with stops 13<a>, 14<a> carried respectively by arms 13, 14 pivoted at their lower ends and conected by a link 15. These arms are operated jointly through a link 15<a> from the armature lever 16 of the line relay 17 to release the member 1 for a half-revolution at each operation of the relay. The member 1 carries an eccentric 18 for moving a rod 19 connected to an arm 20 on the rock-shaft 32 controlling the start-stop device and the positioning of the selecting devices as described in Specification 228,842.
