Abstract

285,018. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Compagnie Franþaise pour l'Exploitation des ProcÚdÚs Thomson- Houston). Feb. 8, 1927, [Convention date]. Void [Pulished under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Alternating - current motors; motors, supporting and mounting; mounting rotors.-A small rotating-field motor for driving textile spindles and other use, consists of a cylindrical laminated stator wound on its outer periphery and a bowl-shaped rotor surrounding the stator and carrying a winding on its inner periphery. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the laminated, cylindrical slotwound stator A is supported on a stem F secured in a frame C, the upper part of which carries a bearing D for the rotor spindle B. This spindle runs in a footstep bearing E in the stem F. The rotor consists of an inverted bowl G either made entirely of steel or carrying a laminated magnetic structure within its bore. This bore is slotted for either a squirrel-cage winding or, in the case of a synchronous motor, two coils housed in two recesses on a diameter in place of distributed slots. Fig. 2 shows a form in which the stator A is secured on a tubular support B within which is the rotor shaft running on a steel plate M in a cap N at the lower end of the tube B. The motor may be attached to a spinning frame by means of a bracket C to which the tube B is secured.
