Abstract

284,601. Briois, A. A. J., and Bertrand, P. F. R. Jan. 12, 1928. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 1, 1927]. Rail bonds. - The connection between rail 1 and an adjacent rail 2, feeder, &c. is effected by a plate 6 interposed between the rail and the sleeper 3 or other support on which the rail rests and secured to the sleeper &c. The bond may be plain or corrugated with a coating of tin &c. to ensure good contact and with a bowed portion 7 to provide a flexible connection between the rails. The bond is secured to the sleepers by teeth 9, Fig 4, pressed from the edge or surface of the plate, or by bolts or spikes such as by those that secure the rails to the sleepers. The bowed portion may be formed of stranded cables 14, Fig. 10, or of laminated sheet. The whole bond mav be laminated and the heads of rivets securing the laminations together may be used to secure the bond to the sleepers.
