Manures.-The invention relates to an improved method of producing mixed fertilizers containing potash from potassiferous raw materials containing magnesium and chlorine while avoiding the latter substances in the final product. The invention consists, in first converting the potassiferous raw material to sulphates by treating it with sulphuric acid so as to remove its content of chlorine as hydrochloric acid, then dissolving the material and precipitating the magnesia from the solution of potassium and magnesium sulphates by means of carbon dioxide and ammonia and after removal of the precipitate of magnesium carbonate, finally utilizing the solution of potassium and ammonium sulphates produced as means for precipitating the lime contained in the solution obtained in leaching phosphatic rock with nitric acid. After the removal of the precipitate of calcium sulphate the solution produced is neutralized with ammonia and evaporated, and in this manner a mixed fertilizer containing nitrogen, potash and phosphoric acid, but practically free from magnesium and chlorine is obtained. When the quantity of sulphates exactly corresponds to the lime dissolved from the phosphatic rock, the fertilizer produced will also be practically free from sulphuric acid.
