Abstract
282,642. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Akt.-Ges., (Assignees of Siemens-Schuckertwerke Ges.). Dec. 24, 1926, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Automatic circuit-breakers specially adapted for operating more readily with a forward than with a reverse current or vice versa, comprise a switch arm 1 held in the closed position by two retaining devices one of which functions with a forward overload and the other with a reverse overload, the arm 1 in either case being pulled by a spring 2 into the open position. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a member 7 carried by the arm 1 is held by two latches 3, 4 connected by a spring 5 and acted upon by current coils 10, 13 and independently excited voltage coils 9, 12. With current in the normal direction coils 9 and 10 act together to lift the latch 3 and with current in the reverse direction coils 12, 13 actuate the latch 4. Retarding devices such as flies or oil cateracts may be fitted to adjust the times that elapse before the switch opens. In the form shown in Fig. 4, a beam 14 carried by the arm 1 is held in the closed position by electromagnets 17, 18 excited by the voltage coils 19, 20 and by the current conductor 21 which, when the current is in the normal direction, assists the coil 20 and acts against the coil 19 and when the current is a. reverse one, assists the coil 19 and acts against the coil.
