Turning-gear. - In an electric starter for internal combustion engines, a pinion 3 for engagement with the engine member 4 is in screw-threaded engagement with a sleeve 2 freely mounted on the shaft 1 of the starting motor and driven from this shaft through a flexible member 5 of moulded material. As shown, the, member 5 surrounds the shaft 1 and is provided at each end with caps 6 having projections 9 anchored in the moulded material, which is composed of rubber compound reinforced with canvas and wrapped prior to moulding. The caps 6 have hexagonal apertures engaging respectively with a member 7 keyed to the shaft 1 and with the end 8 of the sleeve 2.
