Abstract

281,036. Marr, G. Sept. 14, 1926. Plug couplings combined with electric switches. The tumbler switch comprises a U-shaped member A carrying a U-shaped contact C which is moved across dead-centres by a dolly D through the intermediary of a compression spring E and pin D<3> with a cross piece D<2>. The plug element contains three pins co-operating with sockets in the wall of the base, one pin 1<b> projecting on to the tail 6a of a gravity or spring latch, the other, preferably weighted end 6<b> of which falls when the plug is withdrawn into position opposite the end of the pin D<3> to prevent actuation of the switch. Another pin 1<a> is formed with a groove 10 which is engaged by a plunger 8, when the plug is inserted, to prevent withdrawal of the plug when the switch is on. To this end, there is provided a spring-controlled L- shaped lever, one end 9<a> of which engages the plunger 8 whereas the other end 9<b> engages, when the switch is on, the end of the dolly D. The lower end of the plunger is of metal and the upper end of insulation.
