Stereotype, casting. - Stereotypes are cast in a mould adapted to be rotated at such a speed that the metal is forced by centrifugal action into the depressions of the matrix. the rotation being continued until the metal has solidified. As shown, the mould consists of a. hollow cylindrical core 15 secured to a member 18 rotatable in a support 10, and am outer casing 12 formed of two sections hinged to a projection 14 on the core. Each section 12 is adapted to receive one or more matrices 26 secured in the usual way. The separate matrices are spaced apart by ribs 25. The upper end of the core is closed by a conical cover 17, and cooling fluid is introduced into the core by means of a stationary pipe 31. The mould is closed at the top by a cover 28 provided with a funnel 29 over which is located the pouring-nozzle 30 of the melting-pot. The two parts of the outer casing are locked in closed position by hooks on one part engaging pins on the other, and the casing is cooled by the provision of a number of radiallyprojecting ribs. In use the mould is preferably covered by a guard to prevent the escape of molten metal should the mould become unlocked or damaged. In a modification, flat plates are cast against the sides of a polygonal core.
