Pumping - machines; casings; cooling and heating parts. - The turbine-wheel 7 of a turbo-compressor driven by exhaust gases from an internal-combustion aero-engine is integral both with the shaft 8 and with unshrouded blades 6. The turbine casing is in two parts 19, 20 stiffened by a nozzle ring 17, which has a flange 18 on one side encircling the blades 6 and a ring of converging-diverging nozzles 16 on the other side. The casing 19, 20 is further stiffened by distance pieces 25 and is supported from the compressor casing 14 by flexible 'brackets 24, 5 the latter of which is apertured to allow the circulation of air by a fan 35. A scoop 33 deflects cooling air between the casings, cooling being helped by spaced discs 34. The compressor casing 14 which is split in the plane of the impeller encloses radial and radial-andthrust bearings 10, 11 and carries scoops 32 for leading air to fixed guide-blades 31 in the entrance chamber. To permit expansion in connecting pipes, two pipes 36, Fig. 6, are connected by welding one end of an exterior corrugated sleeve 39 to each pipe. The bearings are lubricated through regulating-devices.
