Abstract
278,334. Christoph & Unmack Akt.- Ges. Sept. 29, 1926, [Convention date]. Partitions and framing. - With the object of preventing telescoping of railway vehicles in collisions a framing structure is disposed within the outer lateral walls and comprises upper and lower sets of longitudinal girders a, a<1>, c, c<1>, connected at spaced intervals by vertical pillars b, b<1>, and horizontal members so as to constitute a series of adjacent cells forming a closed structure. The upper girders may form the vertical sides of a clerestory roof as shown in Fig. 5, or be positioned within a double roof as shown in Fig. 6, while the pillars b, b<1> are located inwards of the lateral walls of the carriages, preferably being disposed in the planes of the partitions dividing adjacent compartments or along the inner wall of the corridor of a corridor-coach. The supporting members for the outer walls, which serves to a very limited extent as a support, project laterally from the frame structure. Additional transverse walls e connected to intermediate longitudinal frames f, f<1> may be provided to reinforce the ends of the carriage.
