Abstract
278,181. Johnson, H., Petty, H., and Henshilwood, A. B. Oct. 9, 1926. Feeding webs. - In dyeing or other fabric - treating apparatus in which the web of fabric after passing through the apparatus in one direction is re-fed through the apparatus in the opposite direction, a pair of stretching-rollers of the kind comprising bobbins mounted on curved shafts and surrounded by a rubber sleeve, are so mounted that they are automatically moved upon reversal of the web to take up the correct position to stretch the fabric. In one form, the rollers a, b are carried at their ends in arms c centrally pivoted on studs f at the ends of the dye bath D, stops g, g<1> being provided to limit the turning movement of the arms. The fabric G is wound alternately on the rollers 4, 5 and the arms c are moved by the pull of the fabric into the position shown in full lines or into that shown by the dotted lines c' according as the fabric is being wound on to the roller 4 or the roller 5. The rollers a, b may be moved into an inoperative position by moving the stops g, which are mounted on slotted bars guided on studs s, out of the path of the arms c so that these arms can be moved into the position shown by the dotted lines c<1>. In a second form the arms c are dispensed with, the rollers a, b being mounted in bearings slidable in curved slots in brackets fixed to the ends of the vat-
