Abstract

278,139. Milbourne, R. J., and Beard, G., F. H. Aug. 12, 1926. Joint - making packing.- Covers for gas purifiers and the like having metallic strips of angle section for holding a packing strip are constructed with an inner endless clamping strip. The inner strip is secured by spot welding and the outer set by spot welding or by bolts. The cover c has a flange d to which is welded a continuous endless angle strip h whilst a series of outer strips g are secured by bolts i. A packing strip e is held by the strips g, h and contacts with the flange b of the purifier a. For ease in assembly and removal of the strip e, one of each pair of bolts i is removed and the outer strips each swung aside on the remaining bolt.
