Vehicles with removable bodies.-In a railway freight wagon of the kind having a number of removable. goods containers, the floor of the wagon is provided with longitudinal tracks and buffing devices 6, 7 are mounted on the ends of the containers 4 and on the ends of the wagons 1 respectively so as to absorb shocks in transport. In the construction shown the containers are provided with rollers 5 running on the longitudinal tracks 2, the buffing devices 7 being arranged to swing down into recesses 17, Fig. 2, on the underframe so as to allow the introduction of the containers from the ends of the wagon. Lateral vibration of the containers is prevented by providing the floor of the wagon with longitudinal retaining flanges 10 adapted to engage over horizontal flanges at the lower ends of the plates 8 depending from the containers. The buffers 7 comprise a main body 12 fitted with an adjustable screw 18 slidable longitudinally on a bar 13 carried by a bracket 14 against the influence of a spring 15 housed in a second bracket 16, the body 12 being swung down when required by pivoting on the bar 13, which is disposed below the floor level. When smaller containers 20 are employed, two or more of these may be supported on rollers running on transverse tracks on an intermediate truck or platform carrying the buffing devices as shown at the left of Fig. 1.
