275,949. Armstrong Cork Co., (Assignees of Jones, A.). Aug. 13, 1926, [Convention date]. Drawings to Specification, Ink.-Hard surface floor coverings such as linoleum are made with a nitro-cellulose lacquer surface, printed in colour, the lacquer consisting of a solution of nitro-cellulose in any suitable solvent, with plasticizers, gums or resins, and pigments and fillers. One composition comprises 100 parts of a nitro-celluloso solution of 20 ozs. of nitro-cellulose to one gallon of ethyl acetate, 50 parts of castor oil, and 50 parts of pigment, thinned with equal parts of butyl acetate and toluol. In another composition, 15 parts of ester gum are dissolved in 30 parts of butyl phthalate, and 60 parts of pigment ground in the solution, which is then mixed with 125 parts of a solution of 20 ozs. of nitro-cellulose to one gallon of ethyl acetate, and thinned with diacetone alcohol and toluol. In a third formula 15 parts of manila gum are dissolved in ethyl alcohol, and ground. with 125 parts of a solution of 20 ozs. of nitrocellulose in one gallon of ethyl alcohol. 30 parts of tri-phenyl phosphate, and 60 parts of pigment. The mixture is thinned with ethyl lactate, ethyl alcohol, and toluol.
