Hulling, husking, and decorticating; scouring; reduction processes; thrashing - machines. - Material that is to be cleaned, thrashed, ground, shelled, or disintegrated, is introduced into a stationary drum M having on its inner periphery a number of chambers K with their mouths directed towards the direction of rotation of a disc W rotating within the drum, and provided with projecting blades H. A sieve grating R is arranged at the bottom of the drum for the discharge of material after treatment. Several drums and rotating discs may be arranged along one shaft, thrashing being carried out in one drum, hulling in the next, and grinding in a third. The rotation of the disc W causes looped currents of air to circulate in the chambers K and these currents cause the particles of material to be rubbed against each other and against the sides of the chambers, thus performing the desired cleaning, thrashing, or grinding operation. The disc K is arranged at one end of the drum and its blades project laterally towards the other end.
